Faster viewing

We know how painful is it to watch a computer slowly load digital slides. That's why we have reengineered viewing of slides so that images load up to 45% faster! This allows the server to handle more users looking at slides at the same time.

This graph shows in log scale the distribution of times needed to fetch 1300 square tiles (256 pixel wide) of slides by 4 simulated users on a single core server. This server is too weak for so many users and wasn't able to handle the load very well. With the new code everything is a lot faster and half of the tiles loads faster than 62 ms (instead of 113 ms with the old code) which allows smoother viewing, zooming and scrolling through the slide.
